UKOPS XIX Day 6 Review

Main Event goes to albania

5pm - UKOPS 31, £2,000 Bounty Hunter, 182 runners, missed guarantee by 9%

Easter Sunday is always a great day of sport and yesterday was no exception, with Liverpool beating WBA and Manchester United surprising many with a comprehensive defeat of Chelsea, the Champions elect. Meanwhile, up in Sheffield, the World Snooker Championships were underway & Ronnie O'Sullivan, the greatest snooker player who ever lived, was throwing yet another tantrum.

Sky Poker, of course, celebrate Easter with UKOPS, and yesterday was Day 6 of 7 of UKOPS XIX.

Play got underway early (5pm), and for the 2nd day in a row a 5pm start proved a little optimistic, and the Guarantee was missed.

No great damage though, just a flesh wound, as the limb-less Black Knight famously said in Python's Holy Grail.

The winner was paythedr24, who does not put much volume in here but has 5 decent MTT wins to his credit.

Runner-up, belatedly showing some UKOPS form and perhaps making a late run at the Total Player Leaderboard was MattBates, who has more Sharky shiny spinning stars than an entire galaxy.

This was a really tough Final Table, with the profitable tech24 in 3rd, Wacko90 4th, Melty 5th and in 6th, doing his Total Player Leaderboard chances no harm at all, Kevilfish.

Meanwhile, markycash, the only player ahead of Kevilfish in the Leaderboard heading into Day 6 finished 178th. 1-0 Kevilfish then.

7pm - UKOPS 32, £3,000 Deep Stack, 165 runners, beat guarantee by 10%

First home here was Thoich, from the cleverly-named bulls_up and villa7778, with ciscokid22 in 5th. Thoich has had a good UKOPS and this win should catapult him right up the Total Player Leaderboard.

The real talking point though was the Edinburgh-based husband and wife duo of dameflop and glencoelad both making the Final. On this occasion, dameflop was 4th and George was 6th. George is not daft, you know.

Final Table bubble boy was fitzy_1, and if you are paying attention you will know he won Saturday's UKOPS Main Event. devil_tear came home in 8th.

Eagles finished 14th - he'll win One Of These Nights - whilst Leaderboard rivals ozzieowen and markycash both sneaked into the points with min-cashes.

7:30pm - UKOPS 33, £5,000 Bounty Hunter, 240 runners, beat guarantee by 44%

Cracking turnout for this, crushing the guarantee by 44%, not bad for a £5k guarantee with a 7.30pm kick off.

The winner, who dominated from a long way out was the sexy one himself, CxE1, aka Vinny. Good win this for one of the most Sky Poker supportive players on the site.

Thoich, having won the previous event, was 3rd this time, and so markycash must be looking nervously over his Leaderboard shoulder now. Gimedaloot and Everton76 were 4th and 5th respectively, and well done to welldone1 in 6th.

Solack, who has not had a great UKOPS - he'll thank me for reminding him - showed an overdue glimpse of form in 13th.

A remarkable performance by Essexphil, who finished 28th of 240 without taking a single bounty.

8pm - UKOPS 34, £30,000 Bounty Hunter, 313 runners, beat guarantee by 4%

This was not only the Main Event for the entire UKOPS XIX, it was also the biggest guarantee, at £30,000. I'd not say the suits had any sleepless nights over this one, but I daresay a furrowed brow or two was in evidence. It all turned out nicely though, and 313 runners was a great result for all concerned.

The mightily impressive albania romped home, this was his third UKOPS win and by far his biggest, with a first prize just north of £8,000 plus a sparkly Sky Poker UKOPS Bracelet. Very nice too.

esswun in 2nd may have been disappointed not to close this one out, but a 2nd prize of £4,600 was way more than he had ever won here previously, so I guess he'll be happy enough.

3rd place went to a familiar face of yesteryear in lolufold, who is a real class act, JOXER1968 was 4th, AJE222 5th, and it was great to see Larson7 secure a £1,500 payday in 6th.

Real tough field, this one, with the likes of theraven99 (7th), jonnyrkd (9th), Curt360x27 (12th), and hotshot style2737 in 13th.

One interesting name I spotted down in 26th was Brownndog, who I have not seen on Sky Poker for some years. Last time I saw him here he was still single and carefree, I daresay he's married with saucepans now.

8:30pm - UKOPS 35, £2,500 Freezeout, 153 runners, beat guarantee by a smidgeon

Very impressive win by magicalman, taking what was, in effect, his 4th "Mini" victory.

Runner-up was shire40, who is perhaps better known as a very competent DYM player.

mattprawn, who seems to be having a decent UKOPS XIX was 3rd and so I think it's about time I was nice to him. It's tough, though, as he is an accountant.

The 5th placed RUNFLAMNG, aka Rachel, might not ring too many bells, but she is a lovely young lady with a really good game, and some of you may remember her leading the SPT Newcastle back in 2011 until she got a bit unlucky in the Final when her Aces were busted by A-K. That final was won by gliterbabe, with Jamie Barrett - aka The Daughter - 2nd, (in fact it was Jamie who bust Rachel), with dameflop in 5th and cowhead in 8th. Quite a final, that.

9pm - UKOPS 36, £5,000 Bounty Hunter, 239 runners, missed guarantee by 4%

Jubb took this down for his maiden UKOPS win, well done him, from reeler.

Was really pleased to see Angmar2626 (3rd) get a decent UKOPS cash, as he has been doing some excellent charity work on the Sky Poker Forum and encouraging others to join him.

The surprise result of the evening was GrumpyJac35, who somehow finished 16th. A genuine "how do these things happen?" affair if ever I saw one.

10pm - UKOPS 37, £4,000 Turbo Bounty Hunter, 82 runners, beat guarantee by 2%

High class final table, this, with victory going to b64, which sounds like a USAF bomber, from 2guys1acct and GFKIJKLL, with gadgerno1 4th, and ozzieowen 5th. That's some tough table.

Total Player Leaderboard

Not too much change at the top yesterday, but both albania and THOICH put themselves in contention with late runs. As it stands, markycash is way out in front, but has he gone too soon?

It's been a great Leaderboard so far, so let's hope for a grandstand finish tonight.

Over £56,000 in guarantees tonight, with the highlight being a £530 entry Super High Roller with a single rebuy option. It carries a £25,000 guarantee, so needs 50 entries. Are Sam & James worried? No way, Jose. (T&C's apply).
